General Safety Precautions

1. Preschool entrance door open from 8:30-9:30 am and after 12:15. It will be locked at all other times. During the school day, the only door open will be at the Church Office entrance.
2. The Grace Church Food Bank will limit hours from 1:30-4:30 each day.
3. All classrooms will be equipped with an emergency care bag that will be carried at all times.
4. All classrooms and specials rooms will be equipped with two walkie talkies to maintain communication among staff.
5. Staff is trained in CPR, First Aid, and general safety procedures.
6. Staff will perform a daily sweep of the playground to ensure its safety before each use.
7. Staff will do head counts at all transitions and regularly throughout the day.
8. Staff will monitor all children in the bathrooms.
9. Staff will greet all unfamiliar persons in the hallway and walk them to the Church to check in.
10. Blinds have been installed on all exterior classroom windows and special coded window coverings (green to say all people in the room are accounted for and red to say someone is not accounted for) have been made for all classrooms interior windows.
11. Weather radios have been purchased to monitor local weather conditions during storms.
12. An Emergency Plan has been developed and distributed to all school and Church Personnel and regularly scheduled drills will be implemented.
13. At least 6 fire drills will take place during the year.
14. Student information is confidential.

1. Use the designated Preschool entrance and exit (please follow one-way traffic flow!!) during the hours of 8:30-9:30 am and after 12:15 pm.
2. Monitor your children carefully in the parking lot; do NOT leave children in the car unattended.
3. Supervise before and after school play and stress proper use of equipment on the playground.
4. Greet everyone, especially those people you do not know. Walk anyone you do not know to check in at the Church or Preschool Office.
5. Be aware of your surroundings. Report any suspicious activity or people. Make notes of license plate numbers and features/details that may help.
6. Call Little Grace's Office (540-253-9800) if you hear of any local inclement weather conditions or emergency situations.
7. Make the Office aware of any safety issues or concerns.
