Philosophy

Little Graces Preschool and kindergarten is a ministry of Grace Episcopal Church in The Plains, VA. We recognize that each child is a unique and special individual and value the opportunity we have to learn and grow with them. Our primary focus is to create a life-long love of learning by fostering the emotional, social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual well-being of our children. Little Graces staff is dedicated to providing a high-quality early childhood program with a safe, nurturing environment for our children.

Eary childhood is the most critical period in human growth and development, for it is the period when the foundation of self-esteem, independence, creativity, self-discipline, and knowledge is formed. Through developmentally appropriate activities addressing the various learning styles, center play and exploration, language rich and hands-on experiences, each child is offered the opportunity to develop at his/her own pace and to his/her fullest potential.

We recognize that developmental age and chronological age are separate issues and have worked to create a positive atmosphere of trust, familiarity, joy, and discovery that will nurture and enhance each child's natural ability, curiosity, and self-confidence in a loving setting. Little Graces is an environment where love and respect are shown for each child as a unique individual, and where all children are taught to love and respect themselves and one another.

Finally, we encourage an awareness of God's presence in our lives through various forms of daily reflection; song, story, prayer, and Chapel. Little Graces also seeks to further Grace Church's mission to contribute to the sense of community and vitality of our neighborhood.
